Introduction to canoeing
The quietest form of game viewing is undoubtedly canoeing. Sitting comfortably in a stable two men inflatable canoe, paddle past herds of elephants wallowing in the river, pods of inquisitive hippos, crocodiles sunbathing on sandbanks, negotiate small but exciting rapids, and search for the rarest birds.
Full day with overnight
- Pick up 8h30 from your accommodation in Livingstone (an extra 15USD per person for pick up from lodges outside of Livingstone, please enquiry)
- Transfer to the put in point between 50km and 75km upstream from the Victoria Falls depending on Zambezi flow
- Safety briefing, preparation and paddling practice
- Canoe between 8km and 15km depending on the water level of the Zambezi
- Lunch and refreshments beside the river half way through the trip
- Afternoon canoeing similar to the distance paddled on the morning up to Bovu Island where we will spend the night
- Welcome drink at the Island, tour of the island and your night accommodation
- Sunset cruise in a localy manufactured dug-out canoe
- Dinner and night in fisherman's huts on the island
- Breakfast, morning visit of the local village
- Departure from the Island at 10am and transfer back to your accommodation
Two day with overnight
- Similar trip as the one day canoeing with overnight (above) but with another paddling day on day two after the village tour (see above) .
